In my house which I have great reception my phone has been switching to capital GSM alot. Called Tmo and they have not had any problems with service. I have .168 software. My 8320 never displayed GSM this much.

Might be the SIM card - if possible replace it with another one from tmo to test whether it gets onto gprs/edge network or put your BB-SIM into another device and try to open a wap/web page.

This way you should be able to determine where the issue comes from.

I have faced similar issue with my 8900.. but mine was switching from upper case EDGE to lower case "edge".. I was on 4.6.1.168 but after I upgraded to 4.6.1.174 I have never faced the same issue again... it could be a coincidence but I highly doubt this behavior is due to the OS.. it is more likely a carrier issue.

You may want to upgrade to 4.6.1.174 and check if you face the same issue. .174 although is a beta but it has been stable till now.

Oh..one more thing.. you may have to install DM 4.6 as I think DM 4.7 does not recognize beta OS.

Depends, raja... usually GSM/gprs network issues are caused by the SIM - gprs/GPRS
(logon to RIM network) may also be firmware-specific

Updates via DM 4.7 normally work also for betas, and best done directly via
loader.exe (without whole DTM started) -> c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader\loader.exe
