2. Yes

3. You can watch films but there is a specific set of file formats that is supported. You can watch at max 2 movies from a full battery charge.

Default xVid "support"

I would not get too excited about xVid support on this device. Especially if it's the same kind of "support"the Bold has...

Default garmin GPS

I live in Italy and I'm currently using Garmin Mobile for Blackberry (Europe). Everything works fine and it is like having a car navigator. The price is 99$.

Default Hi

Hello giovmau

If that bee the case do you need to have internet access on the phone or can the maps be stored on the memory card?

I need a solution where by you do NOT need the internet to use the maps. I need everything on a memory card.

Thanks

Unfortunately the way BlackBerry is designed you need to be connected a working data plan in the area you want to use maps. There are some smart phones from Nokia where you can use the phone as a normal GPS device without internet connectivity. But BlackBerry does not do that..

It reminds me of one thing.. BlackBerry is primarily an email device.. but now it had evolved so much to offer multiple features that makes life easy and interesting.

Thank you for the information. That clears up alot of things for me. I would love to get a blackberry. I really would but If I cannot have the maps stored on a memory card then it will be no good for me.

I hope tomtom or even garmin make a system which will allow maps to be stored on a memory card in the future. Until then I have my Vario III.

Than you for all the help.

I understand the drawbacks of having maps not installed on your memory card but there are also some advantages:
you always have updated maps;
you have the map of all Europe (difficult on a memory card);
the cost for a data plan is usually low (10/month) in my case;
you can have the ability to search any kind of location or point of interest
you can have real-time traffic and weather reports and even airport arrival and departures.
I insist for this solution only because I am very satisfied with it and I saw how well it works.
