Default Wrong ringtone for specific caller

Please Login to Remove!

Hello All,

I just got my 8900 yesterday and I LOVE IT. except for one thing. when I receive calls from a specific person, instead of playing the ringtone I have it set to play, it plays some strange tone.

I found info on another forum that said this issue was related to the firewall being enabled so I did that, but it's still doing the same thing. Anyone have any other suggestions?

Any help is appreciated as always.

You may have set a specific ring tone for that particular caller. Assuming that the caller information is stored in your address book, edit the contact info and you should be able to find out what tone is assigned to that person. You can choose to remove that.

Alternatively, if you go to Profiles > Advanced. There should be a check box something like this:-

Use Active Profile Except For:

[] Calls from XXXX.

Un-check this check box. Now whenever this person would call, the default ring tone would play.

Does that answer your question?

Is your 8900 brand new or from someone else? Like Raja said, check the Profile section and see if that "calls from XXXX" had any check. Also, check and make sure the tone that you select is actually in your media card and you can play it.

I got it to work-thanks for your help though raja/fight.
my issue was that I had previously assigned a special tone for someone, but when the person called after I made the swap from pearl to curve, it rang with some random stock tone I had never heard before.

I checked the media card and pulled the battery and got nothing. that's when I asked the question. what I ended up doing was editing the contact to delete the custom ringtone and pulling the battery again. then I edited the contact to include the ringtone again. it works like a charm.
