Default How to get phone to show read/deleted emails on 8900 when read/deleted elsewhere??

Please Login to Remove!

I have my personal email setup on my 8900 and everything seems to work accept for one thing. I can't seem to find a setting to adjust to get my 8900 to reflect deleted and read emails that are deleted/read on the server. In other words, I can read a new email or delete it and have it reflect that on the server so when I access my email online they aren't still shown in the inbox as unread. When I go through my email on the PC though and read/delete emails they will not reflect on the 8900 even if I choose 'Reconcile now' so I'm not sure if this is possible and if so where is the setting to make it so?

As a related side not, what does the Reconcile Now do because I have never seen it do anything at all.

The Reconcile Now question is excellent, I'd like to know that too. What I think happens to email is: because BB has true push email as soon as someone sends it the email ends up on your phone (assuming it's on) On the other hand it sits on the other server (your email handler, not BB) until you open your email program, and then it downloads on your pc/laptop. One way to test this is to shut the phone off, get an email on the pc and delete it. Then turn on the phone and see if it shows up. It's the opposite of what I do which is delete it off the phone and then I never see it on the pc or laptop.

If you register with BIS through the Email configuration site you only get one-way sync with the email providers. It is one-way from blackberry to third-party email server..not the other way around.

You might have missed something when you first setup your email on your BB. Go back in to mangae internet email under setup hit
edit the email then
make sure you hit yes under Synchronize deleted items between this mailbox and my device.

Sounds like BIS using POP3 which is one way only when it comes to read\unread items. IMAP goes both ways.

That being said, the reconcile now is for BES users who need to "force" a sync with the server either for troubleshooting or just being impatient.

Jeff
I have IMAP setup on both my email account and the BIS so I don't think that is it.
