When you connect the BB to PC via cable - browse to the BB folders in My computer and then you can copy the photos

The blackberry memory card will show up as a new drive letter. You can then click on it and go through the folders to find the pictures folder. It's drag and drop from there.

PS, if you have a password on your blackberry, you will need to enter it on the blackberry after connecting to your computer.

Do you have a media card installed in the device?

Are the pictures stored on the device memory or the media card?

Still not able to get the photos - the device does not appear as a drive letter in My Computer when connected. Device Manager is greyed out in the desktop software window - it says allow administrator priviliges but this doesn't change anything. I've re-installed Desktop Manager v 4.7 with media thingy. Am getting cross with it now!

Sounds like you're running as a restricted user on that computer. You need to find someone with administrator rights on your PC

You don't even need to use DM to copy/paste files/photos from the device to your computer (or vice versa). As indicated above, you do the following:

Step 1. Connect the device to your PC with the data cable
The following will happen:
(a) You will be asked if you wanted to turn on the mass storate unit (SD card)? Select YES and enter
(b) You will be asked to enter your password if you have one

Step 2. When you select My Computer, the BlackBerry will show up as one of (storage) devices like other flash drives, cards etc.

Step 3. You go to (select) any device/area to copy/paste like you normally do when you use your flashdrives or other storage units. Consider the BalackBerry like any other storage unit.

Good luck.

Assuming your photos are in the mass storage device, one other easy way to do copy them to your computer is to get the mass storage device (SD card) from your BB and insert the card reader (or to your computer if it has one) and use copy/paste.

Note: As was discussed in other threads, getting the SD card out of the device is challenging until you learn how to do it. It is exteremely easy once you know how to do it. So, don't blame the device (or RIM) if you are having difficulties to get the SD card out. I believe it is an excellent design by RIM to have a stable sitting.
