Okay so I got a BRAND NEW 8900 from ebay. It was suppose to be unlocked but when i popped in my Digicel sim and boot up it gives me an error message for the sim, along with that at the top it says " Insert Sim Card" so my first instinct was to get an unlock code for it.
Okay here is where the problem comes, when i go to the sim option and I type MEPD that works and i get the customization screen but when i try MEP2 nothing works. No the confusing thing is, the network part says disabled which when i checked this forum means its unlocked.
I tried my a tmobile sim and the phone works just wont work with any other sim. Can you guys recommend anything? Is there another way I can insert the code or another prompt other than MEP2?
Please help me.
problem with the sim card itslef maybe???????
nope I tried like 4 different sims. The phone only seems to work with a tmobile sim (the network it belongs to). To besides the otehr sims are working in my other phones.
Most of the time when companies say the phone is unlocked, they mean it is unlocked to T-Mobile and ATT. Im pretty sure you have to use a different code for Digicel or other service providers
OP, it sounds like your phone is NOT unlocked and you need to contact your seller and file a complaint with ebay if the seller does not make it right.
Okay I tried a Verizon Sim and it seems to work and the tmobile one worked so what can be the problem? Tried both sims from the companies here (LIME and Digicel) and they dont work (Invalid Sim) when I try to search for a service with the local sims I get " Scan for networks failed. Please try again later". I think this may have something to do with the settings or something? Any suggestions?
Also let me add the frequences have to be right because me and a few buddies and customers have the 8900 unlocked and they work perfect. Could the phone be defective?
Hi guys, i have the same problem here with my BB 8900.
What is the problem, software (locked) or hardware?
Has anyone found somthing on this?
