Default Problem getting UMA connection

Please Login to Remove!

I've had the 8900 for about 2 months now. Up until about 3 weeks ago, I was using the UMA network through my wifi at home and school to improve my phone's reception. 3 weeks ago, the phone stopped connecting to the UMA network, showing me the name of the wi-fi connection, but never actually connecting and replacing the EDGE connection. Has anyone had this problem? Any advice?

It's not showing UMA. It was before, but it isn't now.

I am going to have to call T-Mobile tomorrow. I was following the other thread and it seems to be working now for some people. It's still not for me. It will connect sometimes, but only stay that way for a few minutes at most. I think it must be something with different T-Mobile locations.

Have you tried doing a "battery pull" reboot on the 8900 and simultaneously rebooting your home router?

I have a small question which I think it can be answered here instead of opening a new thread:

UMA - Should it be available for any wireless network? Because it doesn't work for me on my personal wireless network.

My understanding is, yes, it should work.

My daughter's 8900 works great on her personal wireless network. Mine doesn't. We both have the same router, 2wire, the same ISP, and T-Mobile. I have called T-Mobile and am waiting for them to check the problem out in greater detail. In the meantime, I remain very frustrated. I wish you the best of luck.

it should work unless there are firewall/router restrictions or a captive portal/authentication in place.

I also have a 2wire router and it won't connect. It shows good signal and no password or security issues ... it just won't switch from EDGE to WMA

Yesterday I went over to my daughter's house to test my UMA on her router. It worked fine. Now, we both have T-Mobile, 8900, AT&T ISP, and a 2 wire router. I verified all the settings on both routers, so I know they are set up the same way. I am back to hoping it's a local T-Mobile problem and they will fix it. I am supposed to hear back from them in a few days. In the meantime, this is driving me nuts.

Just a follow up on my UMA problems. I haven't heard back from T-Moible yet. However, yesterday, I again rebooted my router and have had UMA ever since. I have no idea why when I first rebooted it, it didn't work, but it does now.

So, my suggestion for anyone with UMA problems on their personal home network, is to reboot everything more than once, if after the first reboot, it's still not working.
