Default Browser Issue

For some reason when I try to access a certain website it says it is blocked and to call the carrier. I called and they said there is no block on the account and when I went into the tmobile store the worker was able to access the site on his 8900.

Has anyone heard of this before and know how to fix it?

Are you on a BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Server)?
Where did you get the device (Ebay, second-hand)?

Yes, I purchased it on ebay. I do not have the data package, I am just using it at home on my wifi. Not sure if this is the information you were asking for. But any info helps.

Go to Options > Security Options > General Settings and scroll to the bottom, what is listed?

That's good. No IT policy. I am not sure why the sites are blocked. You could try to use Opera Mini.

I just got the phone working today and do not have a data plan. I am able to access some of the blackberry applications like the espn mobile phone site which has scores and news and i was able to download a few apps that were free.

I do not plan on getting the data package, because the only thing I use my phone for is to check sports scores and maybe put in an occassional bet.

This might be a dumb questions, but I dont know the answer and maybe you can help. I used to use my blackberry pearl and check scores on the websites specifically made for mobile phones and never got charged.

I have moved over to the 8900 which has the full web browser. I never updated my plan for any type of data package, so while viewing any of these sites will i be charged for using the browser? Or is this a benefit of the blackberry phones?

I am not sure. If you're using WiFi, you should be alright.

Yea, just thought of that. I am on my wifi. I appreciate the help. I have another post earlier today about my screen, not sure if you are familiar with that.

I talked to tmobile rep and he said after a few days of using it, it will register and will be under warranty. He said I would be eligible to swap it for a refurbished phone, but he said that my screen is minor and that keeping this new phone with the minor issue might be better than getting a refurbished phone. What do you think?

The screen is minor?! I would not agree as it's what you look at all the time on the device. It's your call. You could get a refurb that is "like new" and you may not even notice it's a refurb.

Thanks. I will see if it bothers me the next couple of days. It is only when the background is white on the phone, so while browsing web pages or makings calls. On the normal screen it looks amazing though.

Thanks again for all the help
