Default Latest OS: 8900 4.6.1.353/4.6.1.231 (English + East Asian) - 05-15-2009, 03:26 PM

Software For BlackBerry® Curve (TM) 8900 smartphone

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.6.1.353 (EastAsia) plus English

Package Version: 4.6.1.353
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.6.1.231
* Software Platform: 4.2.0.108
* File name: 8900jEastAsia_PBr4.6.1_rel353_PL4.2.0.108_A4.6.1.2 31_Hutchison.exe
* File size: 121.59MB

Download the OS here:
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...2BAA6EBC8B872D

Instructions to install on ANY 8900 from ANY CARRIER.

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

For the previous OS:

Thanks Bolin.

I downloaded it and installed on my laptop.
Then, run BDM to upgrade.

BDM said:
Quote:
The system applications that are currently installed on your device are newer than those available with this version of the BlackBerry Device Software.
Click Options if you want to install the older applications.
I click Options,

But as you see, when I marked to choose the version installed on my laptop

and click Next, then

What is the problem?
How to upgrade my phone's firmware?

How to remove it? Please tell me

so I have DL it to a BES enabled device, the only thing I can tell is different is compose SMS comes straight up, so Im thinking the order of the menu is a little different??
feels a little more responsive?? erm... thats about it at the moment.
oh loading up movies seem pretty quick. really cant tell a whole lot of difference at the mo.. im sure someone will enlighten me!

did i mention the "makes me a cup of coffe app?"
oh yeah....it don't have that!

when are they going to do a version when you can edit your short cut menu for apps yourself.. ie currently n = Messenger on bb, (highly logical...!?) I want , F = Facebook
N = NOTES!!!!!

Hi

I have downloaded the new OS and then followed the procedure that you click loader and delete vendor ect...but all that did was load up my applications like google apps ect and it said it was updated in 30 seconds. On the page where everything is downloaded to there are lots of small files that say loaderres1028 all the way to loaderres2070 to they have to be added into the loader?

thanks

When people say their battery life was improved, it would be helpful to know what OS they upgraded from.

Hello,
I live in Europe right now, and I need to upgrade my OS (to get a better battery life ... ), but there is only the East Asia version. What's the difference ? How it will affect ?

Many thanks ;)

Its just that you can load the additional languages. When upgrading, just leave the languages you dont want.

Or better yet, not claim this at all. How can you tell that the battery life is better within a day or 2 of installing a new OS? There are also many variables that affect battery life, including usage of various apps/functions, where your BB is (searching for signals, etc.) and the like.

Nevertheless, EVERY new OS release (beta or official) will always be accompanied by gushing reports that "everything is so much FASTER!" and battery life is "WAY BETTER!" Take these reports with a grain of salt. Aside from very early device OS upgrades, pretty much every OS I've installed shows, at best, marginal improvements in speed and/or battery life. Often there is no real discernible difference. (Sometimes connectivity or wifi/network switching seems better, though).

I am boring old fellow: I use my phone the same time each day, send the same "reply all" emails to my colleagues, use google maps or poynt to find food while traveling, play games while sitting on the can, and use the camera to take pictures of my travels. (I work for the gov't)

With that said, my battery life HAS improved. Coming from my last OS (.206), which would barely get me through the day, I'm 1.5+ days from my last charge and I'm only at 30%. So take it as you will, my personal experience is noted.

DrMoze:
Users ask for feedback on these new OS, regardless of how far fetched it is, it IS feedback. Sorry you're so butthurt.
