Default 8900 Profiles/Ringtones problem

Please Login to Remove!

Just picked up an 8900 last weekend and I just noticed an issue. I have 6 email accounts on BIS plus 1 BES account. When I change the ringtone for any of the first 4 listed accounts it changes them for all 4 at the same time. It does not change the last 3 accounts. I am trying to have a different tone for each email box like it worked on my 8310. Anyone else run into this?

I'm guessing no one else has this problem? What's really bothering me is I want a different tone for my BES Mail than my main personal account. However when I change the BES Mail setting, it changes my personal account to the same tone and vice versa.

you need to open your Profile icon, then click on Advanced.

press Menu key and select New Exception.

you can then title your exception after the Exception: prompt

then you can add names to go into the exception folder after the From: prompt.

from there you can select the Custom Phone Tune box and set up whatever ring tones or setting you want.

this is how I do it for freinds and family from my address book, not sure if it will work for you with accounts. I don't have a BES.

Exceptions are for individual emails. I want my BES emails to have a different sound than my other email accounts. On my 8310 I was able to make each account have a different sound but the 8900 doesn't.

you can create a new profile and in that profile you can change the ringtone/alerts when you get emails from different accounts. I had the same issue with my phone and it seems all the profiles that are already on the phone can't be deleted/recreated so i just created a new profile and use that.
