Default Getting All Folders and Old Emails on BB8900 Curve

Please Login to Remove!

Hello People.....

First of all I would like to express the great pleasure I am having using my new BB 8900 Curve. I was a Windows Mobile user but since I have had my BB a month ago I realise that I should have moved to BB long time ago. This is because my work involves lot of travelling and I am out on the road most of the time.

BB 8900 Curve is a complete package I would say!!

My question today is:

My email provider is Google as we have our domain registered with Google and there Google Mail.

I have setup my email settings as provided by Google. But this only gets me my all new emails from the point I have finished the setup. I have about 50 folders (labels as known on google) setup on my mail account but none of them got synchronized on the BB. Also I did not get any old emails.

Any ideas anyone how would I achieve this??

H

You can't.
This is just how the BlackBerry with BIS is designed.
You only get mail from the point of integration.

Wirelessly posted

You will have to use the gmail client for BlackBerry to get full access to all the folders and e-mails within your Gmail account.

I use it and I can access everything. Even my chat logs.

You can download it from their mobile site http://www.google.com/m/products.

Hey Jones, Thanks for your reply.

I have downloaded and configured google apps and google apps mail called gmail client. I can see all emails and folders. But now when you receive an email it does not show you as a new message on your bb. i.e. if I remove my original email settings from bb and just keep google mail app. I have to go to the google mail app and see if I have recd. any new email. It does not automatically notifies be as normally how it works on bb's Is this how it will work?

Yes, that's how it will work... which is one reason why I think the Google Mail app sucks and I don't recommend it to anyone. ;)

I don't use Google Mail, and I never installed Google Apps, so forgive me if my suggestion doesn't make sense - but maybe you can use both solutions together:

- You can use BB mail client most of the time to monitor your inbox and receive new mail
- and use Google Apps only when you need to check older messages archived on sub-folders

the gmail app definitely shows new emails when they arrive, I think that may be an option in settings somewhere.

My problem is that it doesn't seem to allow you to download attachments to your blackberry.

So, I'm either stuck with having access to all my labels and folders or setting it up to my 8900 and being unable to file/archive messages.
