Default Problem getting Outlook Contacts Data into my Blackberry

Please Login to Remove!

I have about 900 contacts records in Outlook 2007 which I want to import, and periodically update, from Outlook to my 8900. I have confirmed that I am using the very same path to the very same contacts database.

When I try to sync the data, Desktop Manager 4.7 skips over my contacts information entirely.

I am able to sync calendars and memos; my problem is strictly with contacts. I do not have any filters on Desktop Manager.

What could be causing this?

I don't know, other than perhaps you missed something when you configured the settings in desktop manager. I assume you've retraced your steps. But do you have two-way sync enabled? It's not set to one-way sync, is it?

I did a quick search and didn't see any posts like yours. Calendar issues a bunch. But not contacts.

It was set to one-way sync (why would that be a problem anyway?) and, in response to Ira's post, I tried to do it as a two-way sync, which also failed (i.e., it skipped over the contacts completely.

One-way sync will only update in one direction. With two-way, changes on the blackberry would be updated on the desktop, and changes on the desktop would be updated on the blackberry. In the event a contact had been changed on the blackberry and the desktop, you would be prompted on how to resolve the conflict.

I was guessing it was set one-way blackberry to desk top, and therefore the contacts would not be copied to the blackberry. So now I'm really confused why setting it to two-way did not resolve your problem.

Does desktop manager spend any time on contacts, like it is doing something, or does it just blow right by contacts?

Another idea. Go into the configuration settings again. Highlight address book and click the advanced button. In the folder mapping field, you may have Address Book <-------> Personal Folder\Contacts, or you may have something else. But it should make sense. If not, click the map folder button and figure out what it should be, and make the change, and try again.
