Unlocking only refers the usage on another carrier other the one to which it is branded.

Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan with your current carrier?

You might have to
a) download opera mini from Opera Mini - Download: blackberry 8300 curve,
b) load it using Desktop Manager and then to get
c) to use the internet setup the APN get help from "http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=111656".

My experience is that Opera Mini runs faster than Blackberry Browser.

While you may be able to get the internet working with a generic data plan or WiFi through use of an alternate browser such as Opera Mini, you will not be able to use the built in blackberry features such as the push email, blackberry messenger, etc., until you get a blackberry data plan.
