First of all, are you connecting to your PC via a HUB or plugging directly into the PC?

Do you have Desktop Manager loaded? You need that as it has the drivers required to charge the BB.

Has it worked correctly before? If so what were you doing just before you noticed that it didn't work?

Are you using a PC or a Mac?

Might be time to look for a wall charger.

Not true. I charged my 8800 and 8900 from my netbook without software. And besides, do you think car and wall chargers have Desktop Manager in them?

I think the problem is that your USB port doesn't have sufficient current to charge your phone. Try another computer and see what happens.

car and wall chargers are just standard chargers.
you need drivers on a computer whether PC or mac to get anything plug and play working!

There are 2 types of USB chargers, neither are standard. If I try to use my satnav USB charger on my BB, it will only charge for a brief period, maybe 2 seconds, and then stop charging. If I use my BB charger on my satnav, I can't use it because it thinks it's plugged into a computer. I'm not exactly sure how the chargers differ, maybe it's as simple as a resistor across the data pins, but the BB just needs to think it's connected to a computer to charge, there doesn't need to be any software involved.
