Default Backup issue - 07-02-2009, 12:57 PM

I'm trying to back up my BB via the desktop manager bakup utility. It gets to the stage where it's backing up address book options and it just stops saying: Error backing up database(s).
Any ideas?

May be that the address book database on the blackberry is corrupted. You could try using the advanced feature in the backup module of desktop manager to clear the address book database, and then resync. That's what I'd do first.

Wouldn't that delete all my contacts though?

Are you sync'ing with something? If not, you could restore contacts from an earlier backup.

I've sync'd with my Outlook. But if i cleared the BB then copied the contact info back from Outlook wouldn't that just put the dodgy data back on the BB and put me in the same position?

not necessairly. if the corruption is within the outlook data then yes, but if after transfer its become corrupted then clearing the database and resyncing should clear the problem.

My thinking is the more likely problem is the database is corrupted on the blackberry. That's why I would clear it and re-sync first, and see if that fixes it before looking for another cause.

ok. It got past the address book stage now it's saying "error backing up database(s)" at the MMS options stage. I haven't used or touched MMS's yet.

clear the browser cache in the browser.
although its not stopping at this point, this is usually the problem with backing up
