I've just purchased a Curve 8900 and have a couple of - no doubt straightforward - questions.
  1. I'm using standard web mail with yahoo. If I switch it to a POP3 account can I link that with Outlook and then my 8900?
  2. Will email, contacts and calendar sync wirelessly with the POP3 account?

I'm on Vista Home and Outlook Pro 2003.

I've not had to worry about this type of stuff as my old job used to provide everything, but I've just left that.

Any pointers greatfully received.

To get email on your blackberry you go to your carriers BIS site, setup a new account, then add email address.
type in your email address and password and 9 times out of 10 BIS will automatically configure the server settings, and you will start receiving new emails in 20 minutes.

with BIS nothing will "sync". you get push email, possible sync with deleted items between BB and server but that is it.
You cannot wirelessly sync contacts or calendar with BIS.

You will need to add the BB data plan to your account, a generic data plan will not work for email. You can have up to 10 email accounts, Yahoo is one, added to BIS.

You can use GoogleSync to wirelessly sync contacts and calendar data

I suggest that you look at our FAQ and check out the email section which should help answer your questions.
