Default Uma?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello all. I just got an 8900 and have set it up on my wifi connection at home.

It automatically sets UMA up as my main connection. I know how to turn it off, but I have a question about UMA. I'm with Rogers in Canada, and I pay for both wireless and highspeed internet through them. If I leave it on UMA, will they charge me for it? Or do I just risk bad call quality?

Thanks guys!

UMA makes your phone calls over wifi, it takes minutes from your pool so its like making a call over tower you use your regular minutes just over wifi. So depending on what your stronger reception is your phone will switch of between the two

Oh ok. I remember reading somewhere that UMA was a monthly fee, and I didn't want to get charged extra for nothing.

So if I have 300 weekday minutes, and I use UMA it will just draw from that pool? And if I have unlimited evenings and weekends, and I used it on the weekend, it wont' cost me anything right?

Thanks for the help.

T-Mobile has a special plan (monthly fee) where UMA minutes do NOT get charged against your plan.

You mentioned that "UMA was a monthly fee" - I was pointing out that T-Mobile had a plan. Not Rogers.
