Default Newborn Blackberry 8900

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

I'm a proud owner of a new BB 8900, before I start messing about with it, I wanted to know what I should do first to ensure I get the best out of it?

Some people mention upgrading the software, what version is this?

Preserving battery life? and just how good is the blackberry unlimited data plan, exactly what can I do with it and what are the limitations?

This is the first time I've ever had a blackberry, I'm somewhat overexcited about the prospects of having one!

Any advice is hugely appreciated,

Thank you

Dust Bunny

I don't usually upgrade unless there is a feature in the new OS that I want. I have a Bold and I'm at lest a version behind the latest. Although upgrading is easy, probably best to use the BB first. To find your version, go to options, about.

Start here: BlackBerry FAQ - BlackBerryFAQ

Check out the 8900 subforum on this board too.

Preserving battery life, there's plenty of information on this board so do a search. Software that uses GPS (Google Maps), IM software, Twitter software can all take a toll on the battery.

Unlimited data plan (on AT&T anyway), you can pretty much email, browse the net and run third party software as you want. What you don't get is SMS/MMS as this is a separate messaging package.

Good luck, it is a nice phone.

First, you should read the user guide, the 8900 Forum and our FAQ. Then play with the device and get to know how it works and how it can work for you.

Don't need to rush out and upgrade the OS or anything like that. The OS on the device is probably about as new as the newer releases and might work just as well if not better for you.

Remember, if it ain't broken, you don't need to fix it!
