Default New AT&T 8900, cannot connect WiFi

Please Login to Remove!

I just got my new 8900 from at&t yesterday without data plan.

however, when I was trying to connect my university wireless network, the set up program says "failed to connect since unable to associate with the network"

Then i still add this network on, the name of this network appeared after at&t logo, but WiFi logo is faded. I open the broswser, it says "you are in an area that can handle data communication, as a result browser cannot retrieve any web page"

How can I handle this problem? Is it possible for me to use the wifi without the data plan? cuz I often stay at school and home, data plan reallys means little for me...

Thanks for your help!

make sure options - advanced - browser - default browser is set to HOTSPOT BROWSER

you will not get a white icon, because a white icon means connected to BIS through wi-fi, which as you dont have the data plan, wont connect to BIS.
