Hi, I'm unable to get my 8900 to accept emails from my personal email account. Have done a lot to try and get this to work. A last resort is to use a BB program that my carrier is using that enables it to automatically detect MS Outlook or Outlook Express settings (where I get all my messages in my notebook without a hitch). That doesn't work, and I suspect it may be due to an inability to work with Outlook 2007. There is an error message that comes out at the bottom left corner: "Error: Object doesn't support this property or method: 'parent.mainform'. "Has anyone encountered this and been able to fix it? you create a login for a BIS account, you then add your email address and passsword.
BIS works out the settings, and then you will receive email on your device.

to do this you need the Blackberry data plan added to your account.

Are you on a corporate BES as well?

I made a mistake - the account I'm trying to add is an account at work, but it was created using yahoo's small business program (where you can have a virtual independent service with a different domain name but all messages reside in yahoo's servers using bizmail.yahoo.com as its server name). The techies at the telco tell me the ease by which I could enable access to my gmail account on the BB, as well as the email account created for me by the carrier (it has a blackberry.net address), should enable this yahoo/bizmail address to be added seamlessly as well. The administrator of the small business domain (my buddy at the office) has not changed any of the settings at all pertaining to my work email account since it was created.

That said, we are not on BES in the office, that's why I don't consider this to be an enterprise account.

I do not recommend using the carrier supplied email account (blackberry.net)

If it gets "harvested" you will get more SPAM than you care to get as it is totally unfiltered.

When and if you change carriers, you cannot take that address with you.

Finally, in the event of a BB outage, you will not be able to send or receive email to that account as it is only usable on the BB - no webmail option.

Can you load the business account into BIS or use Yahoo on the BB?

I can't load the business account into BIS. I can send and receive emails on my notebook where I use MS Outlook. I haven't had a chance to use yahoo on the BB altho I've been able to browse on other pages without problem.
