Default Need info on how to get a deal on an 8900 from AT&T please

Hello. I purchased two brand new 8900's from T-Mobile the week that they came out. The first sales rep I spoke to quoted us $1200 but by the end of the day we had talked them down to $200 apiece in 3 installments by threatening to cancel and go with AT&T. I have a friend who has AT&T service and is looking to get an 8900 and I'm curious if AT&T offers any similar deals. The rate online is 200 and that's after a $100 mail in rebate. Can he call in and speak with their customer retention department to get a deal, or does anyone have any other advice on how he could get a deal? He's a windows mobile junkie so I'm desperately wanting him to get a taste of a BB. Thanks for any help.

I was able to get a Javelin for $120 through AT&T with a $100 rebate card. That means it cost me approx. $20. This was through the retention department. I was not yet eligible for an upgrade discount but wanted the new phone. I told them I could get a better deal if I canceled and went with Verizon.

Just keep in mind that the 8900 is EDGE only, not 3G.

He doesn't really care about 3G, nor do I. The 8900 is better than the bold in almost every other way. I can't stand the clunky feeling keyboard and it's much faster/smoother. Individual keys ftw.

After a little research wirefly.com looks perfectly legitimate. I don't understand how they're making much money though. I just signed up with AT&T 2 months ago and according to the site I could get an 8900 free. I'm thinking about doing it just to have an extra phone.

Trying check out a Sam's Club or maybe Costco. I recently got my 8900 there for $85 with at&t upgrade and its the same price for a new contract. They also had the 8900 for t-mobile for around $70 upgrade or new contract.

They are both legit I have used them both multiple times. There are 2 catches, though! 1st if you are an existing customer you have to be eligible for an upgrade, 2yr contract you have to be 18 mths in to get it at a good price usually free or like $49.99. 2nd you. are also getting a 2 yr extension with (them) as well so if you leave early and have to pay AT&T or whoever you will have to pay Wirefly or lets talk a penalty on top of that usually $175. Other than that as I said I have used them A LOT!
