Default Need info on how to get a deal on an 8900 from AT&T please

Please Login to Remove!

Hello. I purchased two brand new 8900's from T-Mobile the week that they came out. The first sales rep I spoke to quoted us $1200 but by the end of the day we had talked them down to $200 apiece in 3 installments by threatening to cancel and go with AT&T. I have a friend who has AT&T service and is looking to get an 8900 and I'm curious if AT&T offers any similar deals. The rate online is 200 and that's after a $100 mail in rebate. Can he call in and speak with their customer retention department to get a deal, or does anyone have any other advice on how he could get a deal? He's a windows mobile junkie so I'm desperately wanting him to get a taste of a BB. Thanks for any help.

I was able to get a Javelin for $120 through AT&T with a $100 rebate card. That means it cost me approx. $20. This was through the retention department. I was not yet eligible for an upgrade discount but wanted the new phone. I told them I could get a better deal if I canceled and went with Verizon.

Just keep in mind that the 8900 is EDGE only, not 3G.

Check wirefly.com. Got mine from there for $29.99 + 2 year contact and free shipping.

He doesn't really care about 3G, nor do I. The 8900 is better than the bold in almost every other way. I can't stand the clunky feeling keyboard and it's much faster/smoother. Individual keys ftw.

Is wirefly.com legit? They're offering it free with a contract extension. If this site is legit, thank you very much!

After a little research wirefly.com looks perfectly legitimate. I don't understand how they're making much money though. I just signed up with AT&T 2 months ago and according to the site I could get an 8900 free. I'm thinking about doing it just to have an extra phone.

Trying check out a Sam's Club or maybe Costco. I recently got my 8900 there for $85 with at&t upgrade and its the same price for a new contract. They also had the 8900 for t-mobile for around $70 upgrade or new contract.

They are both legit I have used them both multiple times. There are 2 catches, though! 1st if you are an existing customer you have to be eligible for an upgrade, 2yr contract you have to be 18 mths in to get it at a good price usually free or like $49.99. 2nd you. are also getting a 2 yr extension with (them) as well so if you leave early and have to pay AT&T or whoever you will have to pay Wirefly or lets talk a penalty on top of that usually $175. Other than that as I said I have used them A LOT!
