Default Water damage help....... with a twist

Please Login to Remove!

So was playing golf in the rain last week and my BB stops working.

After finding this great forum I still cant get my BB to dry out.

So as a last resort I am going to just buy a new handset unless any of you guys can suggest any people I can send my handset to to repair.....

Red LED, turns on ok, but wont accept my sim card.....

My big question to the floor is......Can I download all my photos etc that are saved on the phone even though it wont fully work.

Thanks in advance

Also heard soaking it in rubbing alcohol, and even putting it in the oven. Low setting of course.

Is the White Water Damage Indicator now Red. This is located in Battery Compartment when you pull your Battery out on the inside at the top edge will be either a white square or a red square. If it is red, then you have Water Damage, if it is white, then you may be able to bring it to your service provider or call them as long as the square is not red. If it is red then they will not do any type of exchange on the Blackberry.
Thanks!!

I really dont have any feed back or input.... but when I read "With A Twist" I couldn't help but think of M. Night Shyamalan.

If the water damage indicator is red, I would say you're better off buying a new handset or filing an insurance claim if you have insurance. You may be able to get it to at least power on and read your device's data.

To dry it out, the best way is to open the device up and let it air dry. Putting it in a plastic bag (preferably an anti static bag) with a few silica gel descants may help draw out the moisture. Alcohol is another option but you're exposing it to another conductive liquid and may cause more damage.

If you had a memory card in your damaged bb, your pictures may be there on the memory card. In that case, you just need a microSD to SD adapter and an SD card reader to read your card. If you don't have an adapter, then you need BB Desktop Manager (comes on the disk with your blackberry) and the device must have mass storage device mode enabled in the memory settings. If windows doesn't recognize your device as a new mass storage device then your card can't be read from the BB or the card is fried too, which means you're SOL.

If your pictures are on the internal memory then you need desktop manager with media manager enabled (again it's on the disk that came with your bb) to retrieve any internally stored media. IF the desktop manager doesn't recognize your device, then you're once again, SOL.

I hope this somewhat helps you, and good luck.
