Default Can't connect to WiFi?

Please Login to Remove!

I can't seem to connect to WiFi. I set up my home WiFi and it shows it in the list but when I go to use the browser it still says EDGE at the top.

Any suggestions?

WiFi has to be set up on your device as well. Do the following...........

Go to MANAGE CONNECTIONS icon or SET UP WIFI icon>
SET UP WIFI NETWORK>
Click SCAN FOR NETWORKS>
Click on your WiFi connection

Then enter your WEP key which is normally the WEP password that you used to set up your home wireless router.

If that doesn't work you may be able to find the WEP key on the bottom of your router on the label.

Once you enter the correct WEP key, your 8900 should connect to your home wireless connection.

You have to go to Settings, Options, Advanced Options, Browser, and set default browser configuration to Hotspot Browser. Also, go to Settings, Mobile Network, and make sure Data Services is On. Finally, go back to Advanced Options, TCP/IP, and disable/clear everything, and make sure you save it. Then when you connect to Wifi and use the regular Browser (not MEdia Net) it should show Wifi at the top of the screen and pages should load. Took me ages to finally get this crap to work today... I've talked to so many people who keep stating the obvious: "enable wifi, make sure router is on, enter password, download certificates" blah blah blah until I finally found the solution through Google. The AT&T customer service guy was quite rude and told me "no, you have to buy a data plan otherwise your wifi and blackberry software won't work properly" as if it was common knowledge. What's the point of wifi if AT&T requires you to buy the data plan first?

"What's the point of wifi if AT&T requires you to buy the data plan first?"

Because wi-fi si quicker than the network, possibly available where the network coverage isn't/isn't great, and doesnt use your data MB's.

That's true, but I don't think it's fair for AT&T to try to disable Wifi access without a data plan. All it takes is a quick workaround to enable it, but the customer service rep told me it was simply unavailable unless I bought a new plan...
