Default deleting multiple emails - 10-07-2009, 07:30 AM

i have just got a blackberry 8900 and its driving me mad. User guide says to highlight one message, press alt key and scroll down highlighting the emails to delete. this does not work, when I press alt- it jumps about 4 emails and highlights that one, delete only deletes one.

When i go and open email and go to header details as it says to get the option to delete all prior, and press the application button, i still only get the delete option which does one at a time.

i now have i dont know how many emails on my phone becasue i do not have time to delete individually. Starting to regret this decision already. Can anyone help please. Its hard to believe there isnt a delete all option.

The delete prior option appears when you highlight the date at the top.
Also the alt scroll thing should be done on the read email.

If it isnt currently working, do a battery pull and then try.

You don't hold down the alt key to select multiple messages, it's the shift key!

Thanks for this post. One more question though. Does this delete mail on the device and the actual mailbox? I don't see that prompt when deleting multiple email. However, it does appear when deleting individual items.

Not entirely true. If you do the shift+scroll to delete email, it will prompt you (if that's how you have it set). Delete prior will only delete from the handheld (without a prompt).

Very true I found when deleting multiple's if I had prompts turned off, it would delete from handheld with no deletion in the email inbox.
Prompts On asks if you'd like to delete from both.
