Exclamation Bottom of my 8900 got very warm and depleted my battery in a matter of hours. - 10-30-2009, 09:00 AM

Has this happened to anyone else? This is the first time I've experienced this. I did a battery pull and am going to see if it does it again. I regularly go through and make sure I close out any apps I'm not using, I have no idea what could have caused this.

I noticed this recently after I installed Blackberry Messenger 5.0. Long story short, uninstalled and everything reverted back to normal.

It's been OK for the past couple of days, very strange. Isn't the antenna in the bottom of the phone?

The only energy containing part of a phone ( meaning the only thing that can produce heat) is the battery.

This did happen with mine. Long story short: I got it replaced, never had the problem with the new one

Some nights if I am up late, I like to listen to the local police scanner using m.moodio.fm. In these cases, my 8900 heats up quite a bit. If I don't have it plugged in, the battery depletes rapidly.

The radio applications (pandora, others) seem to do a large amount of downloading and that might be a factor.

Mine was doing this yesterday - battery went flat rather quickly, back of phone was very hot and seemed to stay hot even with phone turned off; I charged it to 30% before having to go to a meeting, it went flat in 20 minutes; after lunch I left it charged in for an hour (during which I was rehearsing the arguments I was going to have to use with TMO to get a replacement battery!) and when I came back it had rebooted itself and is now charging and retaining charge normally. Very odd. I guess something was wrong with the charging circuit in the 8900 and rebooting solved it.
