Unhappy HELP!! Blank screen and flashing LED on 8900 Curve!! - 11-03-2009, 06:44 AM

Morning all,

Basically, the phones dead! The red LED flashes twice every couple seconds and the screen is black, taking the battery out and replacing does nothing.

Quick back story.... 8900 Curve, got it in March, few months back I upgraded whole O.S. to 5.0 leak, but the phone re-boots itself everyday at least twice and it won't recognize some apps (facebook, etc.) or the new official BBM. This morning I tried to downgrade the O.S. through DM back to 4.7 and in the middle of the process it said "A fatal error has occured, try again" or something like that! And now it is as described above, an when plugged into the PC the DM doesn't connect

Is there anything I can do or do I need to send it off to be fixed??

Try wiping the device , using JL_Cmdr, then reloading your OS. Instructions are here:

How do I wipe the BlackBerry using Jl Cmder? - BlackBerryFAQ

1st Step in Troubleshooting: Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan?
2nd Step in Troubleshooting: Pull the Battery.

Yeah, and uninstall your 3rd party apps. Someone posted recently that their phone went postal on them and they found it was some app like BerryTunes. They deleted that and rolled back to 4.7 and it was fine. Just a thought.

Dear thanks for everything.........

i have the same mobile problem like victorinox but my problem still there as i wipe up my Blackberry by using Jl Cmder and i take several attempts to connect to the device but cann't get it connected.

Than i try ur "What to do next if Jl Cmder will not connect and wipe" technique

but no way my Blackberry still not get connected. Everything is going well to the

Third Point but at the fourth point:

"4. Select the one which says USB:UNKNOWN
* If you do not see USB:UNKNOWN or USB:BBPIN, then follow instructions listed in a1-a5: "

Application Loader Wizard does not find any USB : UNKNOWN.

Nothing it connect but still RED LED blinks only.

Tell me now how do i connect coz im in tension.

And i want to clearify one more thing can u elaborate it further:

* If you are connecting via a USB HUB then these instructions may not work. Try connecting via USB on a PC that is not using a HUB.

As i am connecting Blackberry with the data cable to my Laptop. Is this right r ...!

Please please help me.

OK thanks, gonna give this a try in about an hour or so when I'm home. Called T-Mobile tech support earlier and the guy explained something that sounded like this but said not to risk it unless I really know what I'm doing.....but he also said it'd be 2-3 weeks wait if I send it off, maybe less as it's quite easy for them to fix - can't risk waiting that long!? Will let you know how it goes

OK....it's working, UNTIL I get to the application loader that works, SAYS IT'S UPLOADING ALL 277 MODULES, until it gets to the point where it says "Wait for device initialization".....then the screen comes on, white with the pic of the battery with a red line through it, which didn't surprise me as the steps say the battery should still be out at this point...another minute or so goes then it comes up with a message with a red cross saying "APPLICATION LOADER WAS UNABLE TO CONNECT WITH YOUR DEVICE. PLEASE RE-CONNECT YOUR DEVICE, ENTER THE PASSWORD IF NECESSARY AND CLICK RETRY." ........whats that about?? it's happened with both methods (the app loader that comes up through the dos cause the JL_Cmdr didn't work) and the same through the desktop manager! What to do???

Ok but problem with mine one as it still not connects with " JL_Cmdr ". Its shows unable to connect. i try several times but nothing improves, it is still not connected.

And after than when i connect with APPLICATION LOADER, it cannot find USB port. I think im doing something wrong tell me firstly wht do that mean :

" If you are connecting via a USB HUB then these instructions may not work. Try connecting via USB on a PC that is not using a HUB. "

Tell me if my mobile doesnt connect through APPLICATION LOADER and doesnt find any USB port than " HOW DO I CONNECT."

Is there any procedure else !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Help me out friends ...
