Default Change device / password issue - 11-03-2009, 03:46 PM

Hi,
I currently have a BB curve which is getting tired and my friend gave me a handset his company didn't use (same 8900 curve).

When I first turned the new one on it asked for a new password so i tapped something random in and now it asks for this password every time i lock / unlock the keypad.

Do you know how to turn this off?!

Remove the IT Policy on the device from his corporate BES.

see Method One in this link: Remove IT Policy - BlackBerryFAQ

doesn't look to have worked, first thing the phone asked me for again was a 'new password' again

i backed the phone up, ran the 'resettofactory', restored the phone and back to same position

any other ideas?

OH, you have to follow the directions, don't restore the backup because the backup HAS the IT Policy in it.

Restore ONLY the database you need, like the Address Book, Calendar, etc.

If you don't do it right, and IT Policy can be like a bad burrito, it'll keep coming back.

Have got rid of it, so when I restore is there any idea where it might be as it's currently erased all my email settings?

p.s. thanks very much for your help so far

yep, am currently going through re activation which hopefully will work. It deleted the settings I had set up to receive mail to 2 different email addresses and rather than 'restore' everything which may well have got them back it would likely have bought the password issue back
