Default App store issues - 11-06-2009, 02:11 PM

Hi,

my first blackberry arrived this afternoon, so I'm a really noob about what to do with it, but I'm trying to install the app store, because I'd like to get some apps on my BB, but I'm trying to install the app store firstly off my BB, and then I tried via computer but both of the times it said that my blackberry was incompatible, even though I've updated to the 4.6 software version.

Can anyone give me a hand? :(

Do you have a blackberry data plan?
App world will not work without it.

I'm sure when I ordered my blackberry off of the Orange website I included the monthly charge for the data plan

Then it may not be provisioned correctly on your SIM yet.
You would need to call orange and confirm.
Do you see GPRS, gprs (or possibly edge, EDGE) in the top right corner?

There should be a signal indicator in the top right.
Showing bars of signal, with GSM/GPRS/gprs possibly edge or EDGE.
Do you have only wi-fi activated?

I have the signal indicator which is full. On the left of that is "uma" and underneath i only have WiFi.

In Services Status it says

Blackberry Internet Service: Not connected
Blackberry Enterprise Server: Not connected

Right...
go to manage connections.
Is there a tick in BOTH mobile network AND wi-fi, or just wi-fi?

Ok, untick wi-fi
Wait for the wi-fi to go away.
Then tell me what it says next to the signal indicator.

Right.
It sounds as though the data plan is not provisioned. As it should change to GPRS from gprs.
You need to call Orange, asking for technical support and explain the problem.
