Default gmail setup help - 11-08-2009, 10:47 AM

What is the best way to setup gmail on blackberry?

currently I created a filter in my gmail and forward it to my [email address], it worked fine, and I can filter out whatever I don't want to appear in bb. Problem:1)the read status doesn't sync between gmail and bb, so I read email twice 2)when I reply in BB, it is from email [email address] instead of my gmail.

I could also add gmail thru bb email setup, the issue with this is that I lost the powerful filter as provide in gmail.

suggestion?? Thanks!

Wirelessly posted (8820)

See what others say, but I think what you want to do is add gmail in BIS via your service provider's BIS web portal. (See blackberryfaq.com.)

I personally don't use gmail, but as an example I have two ISP accounts, yahoo, and windows live addresses in BIS, in addition to my blackberry.net address.

1. read status is not reflected. BIS just doesnt do this, cept on yahoo (i think.)
2. option - advanced - default services - make sure its set to gmail not your blackberry email.

BIS has filters too.

Thank you.

for 2). since I didn't add gmail, it is not appear at all, I have Desktop and [email address].

for filter, gmail's filter is much more powerful and flexible.

ah yes, sorry.
It replies with blackberry because gmail isnt being pushed to your phone.
you cant reply by gmail to an email on your BB.

Gmails filter will still apply if you put it on BIS.

when I tried to add gmail in BIS, the filter in gmail doesn't apply, I got every single email in BB. for example, in my gmail, I have filter to put all mailinglist email into a separate email.

if using forward way, I can simply have the forward filter to not include mailing list email(and any other email i don't want to appear in bb).
