Default UK Blackberry using in USA

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

I'm completely out of the know of how this will work.

I want to take my Blackberry to the USA with me when I go so I can go into say Starbucks and surf the web on my blackberry, and also check my emails.

Is there any way for me to do this without being charged? I don't need calls/texts/voicemail.

I've read elsewhere you can turn off the "Mobile Network" and activate the "Wi-Fi." Is that all I have to do?

Yes. If you just want to use wifi, do what you said... You'll only be able to use some apps, and the web browser, but itl work

Thanks for replying, and by doing that I won't be charged a penny correct?

I did just get off the phone with T-Mobile UK and they said even if I turn off the Mobile Network and Wi-Fi activate, I will still be charged.

I'm concerned that if I turn off the "Mobile Network" that I won't be able to use the Wi-Fi option.

Plus, what's the difference between "OFF" and "Off when roaming"?

Off is off. Doesn't allow for data access. Off when roaming doesn't allow for data access when your phone is camping to a different network than your home network.
