Default Encrypted photo jpg.rem file

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I took some pictures using the Javelin. The pictures are apparently encrypted with rem extension. I can view it on the Javelin but I'm not able to see it on the Mac computer. How do I remove the rem file (encryption) so that I save it as Jpg file on the Mac. Has this got to do with the OS? Apparently when migrate to v5.0.0.461 all the pictures are now jpg without the rem extension. No problem in viewing it on the Mac. I confirmed that the encryption box was not ticked. Please help bcos I need these photos.

turn off content protection (including media files)

restart a few times... if they are still renamed that way, then you can try to email them to your self.

Restarting the device after removing content protection won't remove the extension. No matter how many times you do it.

Follow Devnull's steps above to disable content protection. Then do the following to remove the extension.

Create a new folder on your media card. Move each picture with the .rem file extension to the new folder you just created. This should remove the encryption.

Perfect example of why it's wise, in seeking assistance, to state ALL of the pertinent details up front, and your OS release on the device is pertinent.

For an OS 5 device, the setting is found at Options > Password.
