First you need a Blackberry data plan.
You get this from your carrier.
Note however, even with a blackberry data plan, your country/carrier may not support app world, and you may still not be able to download it.

You were probly trying to download something OTA (Over the Air) and all you have to do is point your blackberry at that link in the browser.

But, if your data plan is NOT a Blackberry data plan, it wont work anyways.

What's the rationale of blocking downloading a free application when the data plan is NOT a blackberry data plan?

They control the Blackberry and they say you need a BB data plan.

Most carriers are blocking data to a blackberry that does not have a BB data plan. some are even automaticaly adding it to plans when they detect a BB without one.
ATT , Verizon etc.
