hello,

my 8900 has stopped working..

the keypad seems to not work, no buttons work. i can scroll to icons but no clicking.

get phone calls, emails, sms but cant answer, read due to buttons not clicking.

did a restore, wipe, reload.. no luck

That sounds like a hardware issue. Did you get the device wet or had it in a moist environment? Did you drop it?

If its still under warranty then maybe you could get it replaced. If its not under warranty then you should take it to a repair shop and have them look at it.

Unless you had device insurance, then it's covered with the exception of water or physical damage.

my 8900 is doing the same thing, i did not get it wet or drop it. I charged it up over night. then the next day the key pad started locking up, scroll ball still works, none of the other side buttons work either. I've tried everything, no luck. i'm 2 months out of my manufactures warranty, and i dont have insurance on the phone. Anyone have any ideas?

Try a battery pull and see if that will cure it.

I had this same problem with mine just 3 days before the warranty expired. I did the battery pull even with the SIM card out. I even reloaded the OS. Since it was under warranty they replaced it.

Just last night my wife's did the same thing and it is now a few weeks out of warranty. We pulled the battery with no luck. Then I set her up with an ancient flip phone we had lying around. An hour later I picked up hers and it was responding to the trackball button. After another reset with the SIM back in, it was back to normal.

Try leaving it on with the SIM card removed for a hour or so. Maybe you'll get lucky and it will work for you like it did my wife.
