I got my very first BB 8900. Just a question here. It has probably been answered million times before, but I can't find it.

Do the applications update automatically once I connect my BB to my computer and desktop manager??

Desktop manager can be enabled to automatically check for device software updates, and you were prompted to choose when you installed it. If enabled, you will be notified if there is an update and prompted whether you want to upgrade or not. But this is blackberry only; not third-party apps.

The desktop manager will not update the 3rd party applications, though!

that is up to you to do!

Now, i dont ever use the desktop manager to do OS updates though. The desktop manager will only download the latest version of the OS that your carrier has approved for your device. I like running the latest and greatest hybrid OS's, so i dont use the desktop manager.
