As long as TMO gets it eventually, I am happy.

I am happy withmy 8800 and 8100.

Rather than be first kid wth new toy I will probably wait a few months after its release before getting one, give it time for the bugs to be worked out.
I'm with you! I definitely want the bugs worked out before I get mine!

And I still love my Curve, so I'm really in no rush.

More than likely it's going to AT&T. And when it does, it'll be the first time a handset has made me switch carriers. Barely any of my friends and family are on AT&T...guess I'm going to have to get a bigger talk time plan :(

That pretty much sums it up in a nutshell. I'd love to see T-Mobile get it, but if it's the first 3G Blackberry, who would release it through a carrier that doesn't have U.S. 3G?

The only way T-Mobile gets if first is if it debuts in Europe rather than North America.

I dont think that would ever happen. I'm sure someone will chime in and correct me if I am wrong but the only phones I can recall that had an out of country debut was the 8707..because there was a demand for a 3g berry in countries that had worthwhile 3g networks and the 8120 (or was it 8110?) because it was a minor revision to a current selling US phone and I'm sure the US carriers didnt see enough benefit to replace their still popular Pearl 8100 just yet.

This is a whole new design...with whole new set of combined features and we will see it debut here with the best 3g GSM carrier that can guarantee the most sales.

Any chance of a simultaneous release on both networks?

Yes, but they both had missles at the same time.

One or the other will get it first and probably have exclusivity for a bit.

Why would RIM develop the 9000 series with a focus on 3G data, and then release it to a carrier without a 3G network? Isn't that counter productive for any company to do as they want people to know about a big feature like 3G? That is a huge selling point for RIM as they would show that they catching up with other smartphones. Putting it on T-Mobile first is throwing away a HUGE marketing position and the ability to announce themselves as top of the heap as far as smartphones go. For the initial release of the 1st 3G BlackBerry, that would be one STUPID move.

I understand that you want it first if you are on T-Mobile, but come on. Lets be realistic here. Releasing on T-mobile and basically throwing away money spent on 3G development for a few months has got to be one of the dumbest moves any company can make.

Not that I believe that T-Mobile will get it first (in fact, I almost certain they won't don't), but T-Mobile will soon launch their 3G network, albeit on a different band than AT&T, which will most likely delay the released of a 3G version for them anyway.

You know its not like turning on a light switch and bam! They have 3g. It will roll out slowly starting at more demanding markets and slowly build from there. It will take a couple years or more. When Tmobile finally gets a good 3g network, 3.5 or 4g will be the norm and tmobile will once again be the one with the slowest data network.

They have announced plans for 3g yes, but that means absolutely nothing for a 2008 3g device release. Or even a 2009 one because of a limited network.

I know it's not that simple, but they have been testing and optimizing it for a while. IIRC, the initial delay was due to the frequency not be cleared completely or something along those lines.
