Default Curve vs 9000 - 05-03-2008, 09:52 AM

I am thinking I should wait for the 9000. What is the difference between the two?

Well for one....3G. Other than that...the 9000 has a faster processor and 4.6 os among others.

I'm kinda disappointed in how the 9000 looks. Thought it was coming out with a sleeker look.

I agree - I like the looks of the Curve (Even thought I am an 8800 owner).

I would not buy a curve as the camera is useless to me. The next BB I get will have 3G, full QWERTY. No need for WiFi if I have 3G.

Thanks,

Mark

Any guess as to which carrier will be first to get the 9000. I may have to give up Verizon. Hopefully it will be AT&T as I need good service in central New Jersey.

get the curve then upgrade to the 9000 when your curve goes to a better place, or when you feel like it, what ever floats your boat

If you dont mind waiting a year for Verizon to get it, then wait for the 9000, but I am in the same boat as you and am gonna buy the Curve hopefully next week. IF, and I stress IF, the 9000 comes out for Verizon this summer, then just get that!

According to my ATT rep, the 3G will do voice and data at the same time over high speed and that will allow this device to compete with the VZ EVDO. I think this is a major difference.

Wait, rep for who? The Verizon Curve does 3G.

ATT - a key feature of the 9000 will be the 3G feature.

Jump the Verizon ship and head to AT&T.. They give you a 30 trial anyway. If you don't like the service, just send it back. If you stay with Verizon, you'll probably see the 9000 sometime in 2010.

And go read Kevin's review.. I love how quick it is..

I own 5 AT&T phones for personal use ie family plan. I have a VZ Curve for a work phone. i have to keep a Verizon phone because where my office is, the AT&T does not pick up well and the Verizon works great. So I will have to wait a year to get a 9000 from VZ.

Well, at least you can have it when it's released on a GSM carrier! We won't have to worry when Verizon migrates to LTE..

Since no one has any clue when the 9000 is coming out, it may be a while.

True.. If they follow the same timeline as the Curve.. We should see it sometime this summer.. Aug./Sept. However, just a guess by an eager 9000 adopter!!

Based off of all the reliable speculation, I don't think the wait is going to be any longer than July-August for the At&t release of the 9000. Now, if history proves accurate, add a year or so onto that and you will have the CDMA release...

Anyway, the differences are pretty large. The 9000 comes with OS 4.6, a pretty significantly faster processor, 3G AND WiFi, as well as a higher resolution screen. There are also rumors that it will have more onboard user memory than any Berry before it. The memory rumors are the only ones still in the air really, so we just need to keep our fingers crossed in that area.

Only if the 9000 is the same size. I love how the curve fit's in my hand. At first I was going to get the pearl because it looked way smaller having no QWERTY. After personally comparing the two, curve is not that bigger and it actually fits better in my hands. So now, I am waiting for 8320 to come to my carrier (not getting 9000-its huge).

I wish the curve would be updated to have the faster processor and new os.

did what with the pearl? the processor is similar/memory is the same. just a new OS (which the original pearl will get). The CDMA curve has more internal memory and the new OS, though the OS will be the same on the GSM curves as well
