Hi all,

Well it seems like Orange got there first and the other thing they are offering until the 31st August is what they call BB talk reduced to just £2.50 instead of £10 per month. They also have some great deals for non Business users to the best i found was Dolphin 35 with £5 off via the Web @£30pm and BB talk @£2.50pm and a Bold @£49.99. Voda on the other hand say it will launch 3rd September and have no prices yet but want £10pm for BB service and £130 for a 8310 on a similar length and spend contract. I don't want to guess what they will won't for the Bold but i doubt it will be cheaper than the Orange deal.

I think I'm going to go with Orange for the Bold as the BB talk savings and Bold price seem good to me. Also Orange has good 3G/HSDPA coverage and speeds as they have a Network sharing agreement with Voda now.

This will be my first BB and I'm quite excited about trying a new OS just hope I'm not going to be disappointed. But i will hold on to my E90 for a while just in case as can always run the BB Connect on that anyway minus the outbound Pin messaging.

Marc

The only problem with common sense is it's just not that common!

Oranges prices are pretty good Marc, good luck with whatever you decide.

I had a 3 phone prior to getting a BB and reception here in N Ireland was great. I also liked their X Series mobile web service.

I'm not planning to move to them for BB unless I hear good things. Just passing on the info

I thought 3 was piggybacking on O2's network, unless they've changed?

Spoke to Voda yesterday as my contract is about to expire.

1st October via web or 22nd Sept via phone. Orange deal sounds good but where I live it's either T-Mobile or Voda if I want a signal to go with it. On orange O2 or 3 it would just be an mp3 player !!!

They're taking the p***s. All they're doing is trying to test the water to see what people are willing to pay. I had one supplier telling me last month I'd be paying £410 a unit and that's already gone down to £350 - I should be getting unbranded stock Wednesday next week.

Re:Vodafone - Bold is no longer in the <coming soon> section. I thought it was delayed again due to some reports in Vodafone Australia.

But it's in the main shopping section now! Bring it on!

Those units ordered on the Internet will only be shipped Monday, according to Vodafone, because they don't yet have them in stock.

Not now it isn't.

Quite correct, the launch has been delayed a week. All very annoying but hopefully worthwhile in the long run if the initial issues are ironed out and bug fixes applied prior to release.

There is no link as yet. The orders were made over the telephone. (not by me!)

Got my Bold this morning.

The only downside for me so far is the size of it compared to my Curve (and my Pearl before that!). However, I was expecting that.

Other than that - very nice indeed. In my opinion, definitely the best Blackberry yet.

I have had no problems loading apps on to it, it's super quick, the screen is so bright and clear it almost hurts my eyes, and there are alot of nice little software tweaks which aren't huge but you really appreciate them in use (which is all Blackberry for me - the iPhone has more upfront in your face attraction, but it's the fact that the Blackberry quietly and intuitively comes up with the goods just when you want/need a particular function/thing that I like).

We'll see if I can cope with the additional bulk over the next few days - if not, then it bodes well for the Javelin when it comes out!

What's your impression of the keypad? When I played with one in an Orange store I thought it was stiff, little different from 8800, and I missed the Curve's spacing between keys.

Concluded that Jav might be worth the wait.

Hated it when I tried it in the Orange shop too (against my Curve).

Now, however, having had it and tried it, I actually find it is every bit as good as the Curve (even without the spacing which I liked). And I had an 8800 before, whose keyboard I hated, so even though it resembles it, is much much better.

Not stiff at all after a day of play!

The Javelin will be excellent...

Called Vodafone yesterday (Monday) and they told me to call today.

Called today and they asked me to call on Thursday (04/Sept).

This is turning into a farce.

My local CPW (Baker St, London) had 3 in stock and selling them for £350. Nearly got one but decided to wait for vodafone since they posted on their forum saying 4th Sept for the personal tariff.

Equanet (prev PC World Business) has them priced at £868 + VAT (= £1020)!

Shirley shome mishtake?

Fortunately, they have none in stock, so I wasn't tempted to snap one up. Just waiting to see whether PC World draws on that pricing....

Vodafone have them now (I have 200)
O2 won't have them until October.

If you want unbranded then Misco have preorders at £320 (I think that's what they had it for). Don't bother with Expansys, they're rip off merchants who should be shot.

Got the Bold today as promised by Vodafone. Looking good so far. Only problem is that I can't get Blackberry Maps to work. Says your devise is not configured for BIS or BES access. Phoned Vodafone, the guy didn't have a clue. This isn't a huge deal but it annoys me when things don't work. I have a BB data plan etc. Anyone know the answer to this one.

Did you get from Vodafone directly or a shop?

Vodafone UK tells me Friday 8:30 AM for Saturday delivery.
