Default Car Kit for 9000? - 05-18-2008, 11:33 AM

i had an att 8800 and now have an att 8820. i got a bury or comfort plus car kit

Comfort Cradle Blackberry 8800

for my 8800. it worked fine, and it seems to work fine for my 8820 too. i looked online at some 9000 specs and the 9000's dimensions "seem" to be awfully close to those of my 8820. assuming i can ever get my hands on a 9000 from at&t, anyone think there is any chance my existing car kit would work ok with the 9000 also? (probably too much to hope for...)

i looked at some newer car kits that say they will work with 9000 and haven't seen one i really liked so far. and of course it would be great to avoid the hassle of removing/replacing the existing car kit!

any thoughts appreciated / thx

Judging from the contacts I have seen on the device for charging, I hope they have a good cradle for the device, too. My 8820 works perfectly with my 8820 and I never even remove my device from my holster as everything I need is on the LX570 touchscreen. I am sure the 9000 will work even better!

I have the same cradle. I doubt it will fit as the 9000 is a bit wider and longer.

FWIW I took the crade apart to do some 12V wiring "mods" to it. It's interesting as the alleged "external antenna" they supply with the cradle goes absolutely nowehere. It's just an empty cable that ends inside the holder. I assumed that to be the case because the BB has no exteral antenna connector but when I opened it I thought it was really funny. For $40 new off eBay it was a good deal and does charge just fine.

it looks like bury now may have made what i wanted. the first several places i found with the part showed not in stock but the canyon river place below did seem to have in stock so i placed an order (and got a confirmation) already. i can't vouch for the store; hope it's legit

Besides the first link you posted, is there and other parts you need to order? I noticed that the description says "
# requires mount for cradle, (in-dash, windshield, dash, pedestal, etc.) not included"

Thanks

i can't swear to this, but i don't think there will be any other parts i need to order.

whatever got installed before for my old 8800 is still in and under the dash so i'm hopeful this new part will (either alone or in combination with stuff already there) have everything i need to accommodate the bold later

sorry i can't answer authoritatively; am not very techsavvy

PS, here's the kit i currently have for the 8800 (now 8820) and it doesn't seem to have much more

BlackBerry 8800 Series Bury Comfort Cradle Car Kit

UPDATE: now i'm thinking the pedestal may somehow have come separately. (maybe i bought in addition to whatever cradle i got for an earlier 8700 handheld.) sorry it's so foggy and i haven't been any real help
