Default BB 9000 and IMAP - 05-24-2008, 02:29 PM

Does anyone know if IMAP service on BB's will be upgrade with the release of this new model? I am currently using iPhone IMAP and I love how it lets me sync perfectly with my gmail accounts... will the new BB have email working like this?

Why on earth not? When will RIM get that IMAP is important? Push and IMAP can coexist as they do on the iPhone, so why step back with pushed POP3? Doesn't make sense.

IMAP works with the BlackBerry, but you need to use the BlackBerry Push Service offered by your mobile carrier. Read- and unread stauts doesn't sync yet. I think that's what you are referring to?

Correct. I'd move to the Blackberry Bold in a second if IMAP worked properly (and it were available here).

Did you try to ever configure the GMail account as an IMAP account? By doing this you would loose the real-time push, but IMAP should sync correctly according to this KB article: KB13509
When integrating the GMail account into BIS, you need to not enter your password. Then you will be able to get to the advanced settings where you can specify to use IMAP.

So, reading this, I should be able to set up my Mac account (IMAP) to work with the Blackberry, and it should sync read/delete status? That's how I interpret the KB article, so if correct, that's great news!
