Default Will The Bold Also Be Another "Dustpan?" - 06-07-2008, 01:50 AM

Just wondering if anyone has seen the device close up to determine if will be another dustpan. The pearl was bad with dust between the screen and lens. The curve is just really really bad. I hope the bold will have addressed this stupid problem. I already had to take my curve apart 5 times to clean out the dust.

I know some have had dust problems behind the screen, but in 6-7 devices, pearls and curves, I luckily have not.

Lets all hope that RIM has learned something about dust intrusion. Seems like from the time the 8700 came out there have been problems with "some" of the devices getting dust behind the screens.

I wonder if dust not being a problem for me might relate to me instantly equipping my new handsets with Zagg Invisible Shields.

Anybody have a shield AND a dust problem?

Same here. I have never had issues with dust and am really grateful for that!

Wirelessly posted (You serious Clark?)

I've noticed my curve is better than my pearl at not getting dust behind the screen

I hope the Bold is as good regarding dust as my Pearl has been.

I've always kept it in my pocket, without any protection, and I've never gotten any dust behind the screen. I've had it for 17 months.

No problems with dust and I live in a desert! I go hiking a lot, pull out my phone on the trail, and have even dropped it in the sand. I have never gotten dust in between screen and lens. Do you have superdust where you are from?

It's an edit EZ made on the WAP portal to say that when he posts from his BB. You can change yours too!

all previous devices had a screen that was set back from its plastic 'cover' by several mm. The bold will have its screen flash mounted to its cover, so it should be immune to dust problems.

If this is so, it would be a real advance on keeping dust from getting into the screen.

I always thought it was such an odd problem to experience from a high end pda. Especially BB. I never had this problem with any other phones I had and I owned a ton. Never with my ipod or game devices. It seems like a stupid thing to have to deal with. I really hope this has been addressed.

Ive had a lot of devices as well. The BIGGEST dust bunny problem I have EVER had was with my Sharp Zaurus back in the day. I loved that thing ... but had to get rid of it cuz the dust problem was so bad.
