Seriously? Moderator... this subject is misleading and I think should be removed. Sure it's on the Premier site but anyone is going to see this and get excited, as I did, thinking it's "for sale" like everything else on the premeir site. It's NOT listed as an available phone...

no need to get that worked up over a title. the title says exactly what is accurate. the 9000 is on the premier site. i will add to the title to further clarify but "lighten up Francis" to quote Stripes

Sounds like somebody skimmed the title and rushed over the the Premier site, then got his panties in a bunch when he realized that no, he couldn't yet get one.

I'm hoping for a Sept. 08' VZW Bold release date (source: InfoSyncWorld) but I'm not holding my breath.

Not sure if it was there before or not, but I just noticed the "Sign Up to Be Notified" box at the bottom of the ATT page.

I guess many of your new Black berry people have not been around for long as what ATT has on their website and what is going on here is no different than all the other new device introductions I have seen in the past.

I think the idea is to use what is going on with the ATT site as a proxy for how soon the device might be made available, and not that it is being treated differently than other devices.

What I am saying is that I remember when the 8800 was just on the Premier Site but unable to order. This is a just part of the normal hype.

Thanks for your tenured insight, but the post was for those that may want to sign-up. The practice of sign-up to be notified is not new, and is certainly not limited to the Smartphone arena, as I think most were aware of prior to your post.

Thanks for your tenured reply!

It, too, is typical.

In the past new Blackberry Introduction, "Signing up" did not get you a phone any quicker that anyone else. I remember having my 8820 for two weeks before ATT emailed me and said I could order! <vbg>
Just a nice way to collect email addresses!

Good grief, why are you guys raggin on Greg. His point is valid. If I am interpreting his posts correctly, his only point is that it is hard to put very much confidence in the ATT site based on previous experience. Sure, we are all looking for any sign of hope that the release date will be sooner rather than later but geez, no reason for the sarcasm towards him for stating what we all have seen in the past. I've experienced the same things he has mentioned and he is just pointing that out to any newbies listening.

I can't understand why AT&T or RIM have yet to announce a release date for this device.

I could be wrong, but I would've thought that would've been decided upon when they decided to announce it.

nope, that just means they decided to release it at *some* point, not a specific day. could be anything from manufacturing delays to the release of the iPhone 2 that are changing the target release date.

I think they know.. they just dont want us to know that they know.. know what I mean

I seriously doubt either RIM or AT&T are still sitting in meetings "trying" to figure out when to release it... they know darn well when that will be..

It very well could be that even they have not decided on a date.

There is ALOT going into this. The hardware is likely done and yet waiting for the final OS programming which could still be getting tweeked. ATT has got to get it's network ready and even the box/packaging has got to be completed. Until ATT updates it's network the Bold would not even fully funtion!

Per BGR: BlackBerry Bold hits Rogers on June 25th? : Boy Genius Report

It looks like everything is a go, and the delays are more marketing than anything.

Default Bold Exclusive? - 06-18-2008, 06:03 PM

The later they release the Bold the less time AT&T has an exclusive, which from a business perspective is crazy. They can't be happy about these delays, so chances are they are all working 'round the clock to get this out.

If I were a betting man I would say the release date will be in August.

generally speaking the exclusivity period is anywhere from 60-120 days following the actual release date. so really that equates to that much longer till other carriers get it
