The main Roger's corp store in downtown Toronto is saying last week of Aug. first week of September. That is more than I could get out of them until now.
They have have promotional flyers for the Bold which they hand out if asked, but no price on them.
At $399 I might wait until Dec. when the price might drop and possible bugs are worked out in real world use.
As noted in a previous post, The Source by Circuit City is selling the Curve at $0.0 on a three year plan. That promotional flyer for the Bold shown above indicates that Rogers is selling it for $200 more. Is Rogers trying to get as much as they can before the new wireless carriers hit the market?

Default buying or signing - 08-15-2008, 04:44 PM

how many of you guys and gals are buying it outright? and how many are considering to sign 3years or HUP 3years for that price? I have a year and a half left on my existing 3 year contract and I was thinking of just buying the phone especially when it's $399 even if you sell your soul.
I'm going to head down to the store now to snap that picture because $899 sounds crazy. Unless our pricing is inaccurate.

but oh well, what else can we do, I know we can hold off until december when the prices drop. So for a whopping $451.99 taxes in we can have it by next week.
Surely not 899.00, what does this thing do? I know it's only money for the best yet, I guess. Must be nice to be able to drop that much in a second. I'm sticking with my old 8310 and hope for price drop, way down. Good luck to all.

Lead story in the Globe & Mail Report on Business is about the Bold:
Quote "New Blackberry Expected This Week" "Although both RIM and Rogers declined to offer a specific launch date, analysts say the Bold could be available as early as tomorrow." "RIM expects the Bold to be available in Britain, Germany, Austria, Turkey, Hong Kong, Australia and Chile by the end of the week."

Not sure what this adds to the piece, but there is an article in the Globe and Mail today in the Report on Business that indicates Rogers availablity "as early as tomorrow".

It could be that it'll be available to order by dealers tomorrow so that they receive them for the thursday media announcement.

Who knows how true any of this info is anymore but my contact says that the Thursday Launch will announce a release date of September 12, as the radio is saying. Hopefully not the case.....

Yes, by one minute.

The balance of the Globe & Mail article mentioned, among other things, that the delay in launching may be because RIM wanted to work out technical issues (battery life) and have a product that worked as it should from day one. The clear implication was that others may others may launch products too soon and have the initial users be beta testers.

There are no more issues with battery life.... There hasn't been for months now... At this point is just rogers stuck upness of perfection to the OS... There are coding issues that Rogers wants fixed before they release it.... From what I've heard they have approved the last build, so whether it launches tmw, thursday, or sept 12th, I don't know... All my sources are saying this week, however like all the past dates, they can be pushed back by RIM or Rogers at the last minute. Which I hope is not the case. I really am starting to hate this waiting game, however at the end of the day I would rather wait and get a good product that works without issues when I've spend just about $800 on it.

Cory, I mean absolutely no disrespect, so don't take this the wrong way but how come your contacts didn't hook you up with one already, even a pre release? From what I see they aren't *THAT* strict with giving out demos to people..

TORONTO (Reuters) - Rogers Communications Inc, the owner of Canada's biggest wireless carrier, will start offering Research In Motion Ltd's new BlackBerry Bold on Thursday, the telecom firm said.

The Bold is RIM's most advanced smartphone to date and is the first BlackBerry to support high-speed HSDPA cellular networks. It comes with integrated GPS, Wi-Fi and a host of multimedia features.

RIM co-CEO Jim Balsillie told Reuters in May that the smartphone, aimed at the company's base of business users, will cost between $300 and $400. AT&T will be its lead carrier in the United States.

A Rogers spokeswoman said pricing details were not immediately available.

The smartphone is expected to be available with carriers around the world by the end of this week.

The Bold features the most vivid display ever on a BlackBerry, a 2-megapixel camera with video recording capability, and a media player for watching movies and managing music collections.

Every day a holiday, every meal a feast.

Rogers stores will be receiving stock today, BUT that does not mean that they will release them for sale today, Just mark Thursday August 21 on your calender and erase June 25, July 25, August 12 and todays date.
Lets not forget Thursday will be a busy day syncing our old BB to our New Bold and updating our pins to all our friends.
