they will be starting today, not all store will get them today, but they are being shipped by courier as usuall, 90% of the time the stores do not know what they receive until the shipment arrives. But either way I do not think that they we sell them before Thursday. Sorry AT&T I am refering to Rogers Wireless.

It's quite ironic that you are asking him of all people. Ray has repeatedly demonstrated a lack of credibility at predicting a release date for this phone. I'm certain that Ray is an incredible guy, so please do not take any offence Ray, but his track record is just pitiful.

Cars- why don't you just sit back, enjoy a nice soothing cup of tea and take comfort and joy in the fact that you'll have a new toy to play with by the time the weekend rolls around. Savor the experience because the truth is that in 7 days you'll be craving something new again.

Savor it all friends. It's the experience and the interaction that brings you joy, but the new-built-in-obscelence-toy that the ceo admits is designed to only last 18 months.

Personally, I'm looking forward to having most of my music at my disposal. That's probably the biggest advantage to this upgrade that I can discern. The rest are just bells and whistles. 3G sounds appealing but I don't believe it will make me any more productive (the time I've spent browsing/posting on this blog I could have probably built a house in Costa Rica!) or help me improve my business at all. I suspect most of you feel the same way.

That doesn't make sense since the dealers need to order the quantity they want. They don't just get random amounts of hardware. The only stores that might are the corporate stores.

This statement goes with everyone else out there trying to pry any information from what ever sources they have. And, I would say that this cat and mouse game is not exclusive to Rodgers - just look at AT&T... We are so in the dark with so many assumed dates of release. No one knows. (except the real insiders)...

Last week a few stores in the downtown GTA region told me that they wouldn't sell the Bold outright but on new contracts only. If any Rogers Wireless dealers in the GTA region are on here hit me via PM and let me know where your store is. I'm hoping to purchase a unit outright.

I heard the same thing. I really hope this isn't the case though. I was told that if you are not eligible for an upgrade (had current phone at least a year) that you would not be able to get the Bold. The idea behind this is that they apparently are targeting new customers to Rogers.

Just go to a corporate store. They have no problems selling without contract.

alright this is kind of a long shot but I am going to post a qeustion here to see if anyone can help me since I saw some rogers employees posting here...

Basically, I'm with Fido now (no contract) and I'm going to switch to Rogers and buy a bold. I'm going to call rogers as opposed to walking into a store because I'm going to see if they will at least give me a BIT of a decent plan since I will switch, port my #, sign a 3 year contract on data ANd voice, and buy a phone. And the peopel on the phone have a bit more authority than people in store..

Anyways, I *really* want to get this phone ASAP (I don't really usually care that much to grab something right away but the delays drove me insane and I won't rest until this stupid phone is in my hands lol).... so how exactly does it work? First of all, do they ship me the phone, or can I pick it up? I would REALLY prefer to pick it up. And, how soon does the stuff take effect? Is it instant to port the number ? I'm guessing I have to go buy a Rogers sim.... so do I make them set up my account, and then goto a rogers store and buy a sim and have the guy at the store activate it (and hopefully grab the phone at the same time..)..

Someone clear this up for me please. Also, I will be in the middle of my billing cycle, so will they be able to stop it right away and start my Rogers one right away? I hope I don't ahve to wait for it to end (I don't even care if I have to pay for an extra couple of weeks at this point, I just want to be with rogers asap and have the bold asap).

I guess if no one answers I will find out on thursday but it would be helpful if I knew what I was dealing with ahead of time (as a long of CSRs are clueless).

Thanks

Try to clear a few things up
-They most likley will give you a better price but it also may be difficult because it is brand new and they'll most likley be running a promo, but you'll have to see.
-You dont need to buy a sim. It comes with all new Rogers phones, and it is included in a $30 activation fee which is easy to get them too wave
-Usually they would ship the phone and activate your sim card (but you may need to activate the SIM yourself when you get the phone, by calling..not 100% sure)
-If you call and get a price and a deal or whatever, dont even bother going to the store and say you got priced at this. They'll call their number, talk to another rep and give you a whole new price...believe me its not worth it. If you can get what you like over the phone and theres no need to go to a store, at all costs, avoid the store.
-At the store in order to activate the new SIM, they call their 'people' and they do some stuff down there and voila you have a working phone. I dont see why that if you get the phone shipped to you, why you couldnt do the whole activation yourself over the phone...I may be mistaken...there may be somesort of protocal issues
-Rogers and Fido have no affiliation that i'm aware of, therefore they do not care when your billing cycle ends. If you keep your Fido number and transfer it to Rogers, you will need to terminate your Fido plan, which will cost you...lots. If your getting a whole new number then your pretty much forced to stop your Fido plan anyways because your going to be paying for 2 cell phone services. They will still charge you for an entire month even if you only use a days worth of service.

Hope this helped

You may love the service Rogers provides, but my god will they ever make you pay for thier plans and price of phones ;)

Thumbs up Rogers CSR confirmed they have it in stock - 08-20-2008, 10:13 AM

I am on the phone with a Rogers customer service rep and they confirmed to me that they do have it in stock, and on my business account it would cost me $425 minus a $50.00 mail in rebate, = $375.00, now the question is do I let them mail it to me (3-4 days to receive) or wait until tomorrow when the stores will have them in stock. they made a note on my account that I will pay $375.00 with out having to mail out for the rebate. Now I have to call around and see if some stores around me have them in stock.
