I picked up my BlackBerry Bold at Future Shop in Orleans today. Future Shop has a stock checker and I found out online that Orleans had it ... Went straight over it, picked it up -- 649.99 no contract, no questions asked.

I think it's sold out at all Future Shops in Ottawa now.

Thanks,

That's what I paid. Some ppl are claiming that Rogers is selling them for $599 but as far as I know and have been told by Rogers corp stores it's $649 and only $599 with a new activation.

Also, some others have said they got Futureshop to match this $599 price. Not sure if they bought it outright there or actually did a new activation. If outright then Futureshop is getting the wool pulled over theirs eyes. Lol.

It's 599 on Rogers website without a contract.....why would they charge 649 in the store?

Cause the $599 price is only when you do a new activation on a month to month. Then you will be charged the $35 admin fee plus the cost of the first months plan price.

It didn't ask me about any activation. If you go to the rogers site there is an option for 'Device Only'. That price is $599.99. I put it in my shopping cart and got as far as checkout, but couldn't put in a US address for delivery so I had to cancel and have someone I know go pick them up for me. Grand total in my shopping cart was about $680.

Got my Bold at the Oshawa Future Shop yesterday. I showed the sales lady the Rogers online $599.99 price for device only. They price matched. No new activation. Just gave her the $ and walked out with my new toy. Took less than 15 minutes from the time I got out of my car to when I was back in it putting my SIM in the Bold.

The device is great. 3G has not dropped. Fast browsing, at least compared to my 8310. Call quality is supurb and I've had no dropped calls. Battery life seems fine as well. And of course the screen is incredible. Simply beautiful.

My only problem is I HUP'ed to a new 8310 about 3 weeks ago. But Ebay will take care of that.

Default Picked up my Bold @ 10:30 AM 21st - 08-23-2008, 09:09 PM

I called the Rogers store that I deal with in Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge region at 10:15 AM on the 21st they indicated that they had two Bolds in stock, told them to put my name on one and that I would be there in 15-20 minutes. At 10:30 I was in midst of paper work, they told me that they had ordered nine and received two. Some store even today still no stock... somebody dropped this particular ball big-time imho this product release was very poorly orchestrated. But I am very happy with my Bold, 3G seems to be always on, thus far no dropped calls, does seem faster than my 8800 but nothing that I would consider life changing per se. Call quality is great, the user interface of most menus and screens is different but I must admit I do like the "look" as it were. The weight, the feel, the size I really like, battery life is shorter, but thus far not significantly so, nothing that a car charger or ac charger can't deal with. Only real complaint is the screen is scratch prone.

Haven't tried it side by side but my Bold is much, much faster. Just was playing around with the browser & couldn't believe how fast it was. My curve was painfully slow.

Scrolling with the trackball is a little slow but manageable. Right now I'd say the only negative I've found is the holster - very bulky & heavy. I like the old plastic ones that are light & keep the phone close to the body.

So I agree with lauriem. So far my user experience has been great. It's a vast improvement from any BB I've had.

I can't wait for mine! Any updates on when the Bold will be out for AT&T? I would love to even hear a good rumor....

Also, I can't believe there is no World Clock. Isn't this their flagship business user device? C'mon!

Does anyone know of any good alternatives?
