Imagine how an AT&T subscriber feels. I'm starting to wonder if the Nokia E71 isn't the way to go.

I'm ready to get a 8310. Only thing stopping me is that it does not have 3G.

BlackBerry® Bold™ 9000
So AT&T is the only carrier i've seen with a "coming soon" somewhere on their website. this would be promising because normally they dont do this unless its coming out within the next few weeks, but its not on the consumer page and it was actually quite difficult to stumble upon that page.

Well called the Rogers customer line and gave them the old "we're getting frustrated with all the missed dates" story and asked if they had a date set yet for business customers. He told me for sure August 18, 2008 it would be available for business customers. So take it for what it is.

Tell me about it. They're just screwing themselves with all this nonsense. Anyways we will say what that meeting is all about on Friday. If the corporate rep doesn't give me a firm date for release then I give up!!!

Bold Release Hint from Rogers (CA) -
07-31-2008, 04:55 AM
I've been talking with different rogers reps for about 4 days straight now due to a data issue but every time I've called I asked about the Bold. The hints I've been getting all lead to when the iPhone rush has died down. Also I got a tentative date for August 16th but that changed to the 6th on my last call. Also, the very first call I was told that the rep got an email blast that the release party was due by the end of the month. So by the looks of it the date keeps getting closer now so look forward to it being released in the next two weeks! (plus I get mine for free (: ) The dates being pushed back further and further recently were due to the iPhone still being a powerhouse seller and they're trying to milk that all it's worth because the Thunder will completely over shadow the Bold which is a "stepping-stone" model really.
PS: a Rogers rep confirmed that they will be picking up the Thunder by the end of the year but it is just hear say after all.... right?

ok I went to the one on Yonge and Steeles - Centrepoint Mall.....so guess what the guy I spoke to and saw the device refused to bring it out again. He was asked to hold the device. For what reason I asked....he said there is some internal squabble on the release day. In any case he did have a working demo and that is what he showed me. After that he said honestly it is in the next couple of weeks.....
COUPLE OF WEEKS?????????? I guess RIM is trying the old increase the demand and piss of customers ploy and it is working...at this rate even I will consider the iphone!!!!
Anyhow that's my venting....after trying to get a date, seeing the device...this is what I got.....
At this stage WHO KNOWS!!!!

You are no less important than anyone else friend. We are all connected and each remarkable spirits.
Appreciate what you have now at this moment, and not what you hope to have one day in the future. You need to deal with your harmful attachments in order to truly be happy and free your mind from suffering.

Data Plans For Bold -
07-31-2008, 01:46 PM
At the main Rogers store at Bay and Adelaide, Toronto they are not saying anything about the Bold launch date, except within the next few weeks.
However in all the missed dates concern, there may be a larger issue as to how Rogers is treating their Blackberry business users.
That great deal on data of $30 for 6 gigs of data does not apply to BES users. You are stuck with $60 (or perhaps $48, if you have a corp discount) for 25 megs!
Talk about a customer relations disaster for Rogers and how it treats its main customers for the Blackberry. I know some business IT depts which disable gps and photo sharaing on the Curve, in order to limit data use. What business would go to a 3G devise when data usage on an Edge is too expensive. I do not know what Rogers is thinking.

Yes it was ROGERS and I could tell as the background was red. I saw him play with it and now they took it off the display.
I've been to 4 stores and they all RUDELY tell me "when we know then you'll know" i've a good mind to call Rogers on it!
Anyhow I'm still waiting...

CAn you elaborate on these "minor" fracture cracks. What is the source of these cracks. I almost bought one for my wife but elected to get her a Curve as Iphone requires us to break our contract and go onto a specific plan which is nonsense in my opinion....our cellphones are our home phones so we rely on quality. We also built our plans so that they are they replicate home phones eg. unlimited in coming, after 5 and weekends unlimited etc. The rep told me that I would have to make a new plan that was $60 more than what I pay now!!!!!

Yes, I got the same information from the Rogers client exec rep assigned to my firm. Seems bizarre to me too, and I suspect that Rogers is going to have a huge business-customer relations problem when that fact becomes more widely known.

I did not resist the urge, and got my 16gig iPhone 3G a week ago. It is an awesome machine, and having it has effectively quelled my yearning for the BB Bold. I will still get the Bold, but now I can wait. No cracks in the iPhone so far. If it develops a crack, they'll have to fix/replace it. No biggie. In the meantime, I've got a real live web browser with me all the time ... and you don't! (No disrespect intended -- just yanking your chain.)

Agreed.
I have had users with $500+ data overages for a few days of browsing, or heaven forbid, using built in apps like maps, etc.
Rogers is offering BES clients a 1GB package for $100, which is still a rip, but at least it's better than 100MB for $100, which is what is was before they released the consumer data packages. but even with corp discounts, that's steep..
