It has been delayed for so long I kind have forgotten about it, I guess when I see it in stores for a couple weeks then I will make my move to buy it.

This just proves that this delay may indeed be the fault or decision of the carriers if other carriers have already released. I've never seen a phone announced so long ago take this long to release.

On the whole delayed release date thing.....I am not condoning the behavior, but from the manufacturer's point of view: If consumers don't know the new device is coming, then they can't postpone their pending purchase (i.e. instead of just buying something else right now).

If the upside is that consumers delay their purchase until your new device is released, and the downside is just a bunch of crabby forum posts....then the decision is a no-brainer. I believe this why even Apple, previously known for "announce it today so they can buy it tomorrow" has even started to announce things officially before they are available.

When I got that stupid hype E-mail from RIM, that was the day I was sure it would be a long time before we ever actually see the device on shelves. I continue to wait patiently.

Very good points.

Some may recall the "Osborne Effect" or "Osborne Myth" from the early 80s. Google this for some interesting reading about what some say could happen when a company announces a new product before it's ready.

And true indeed about Apple, but at least they gave the public an actual date (even if it ended up in disaster in some places).

I wasn't as patient - I got a Curve a couple of weeks ago...

Maybe the 12th for Canada? Or is that an old rumor?
Jeez. To think, RIM is based in Canada too. Ugh!

What kills me is that if the Bold isn't out before the end of August, when Fido/Rogers stop offering the 6 Gigs / $30, I'll be forced to buy an iPhone, only to keep it brand new in box unsealed, to be sold, so I have funds for the Bold.

edit: apparently august 19th in canada?

Sorry I don't really get the point of me switching providers to sign up now since I'm not currently a Rogers subscriber?
If the Bold isn't out by the 30th I'll stick with Fido.

The $30 promo will be extended if Bold doesn't make the 19th -- Sources point to the fact Rogers originally designed it to include both iPhone and BlackBerry Bold. Rogers may not have anticipated delaying Bold this long...
