Any .Mac/MobileMe users out there? I was wondering if Apple's email is instantly pushed onto your Blackberry. Since Apple upgraded .Mac to MobileMe my email is pushed instantly onto my Nokia E71. This only works because Apple finally got on the stick and upgraded their mail system for the iPhone 3g, but we all benefit. In the past, with my Blackberrys my .Mac email was polled every 15 minutes. But with no Blackberry now until I jump all over a Bold, I can't tell if Apple email will be instantaneous like on my Nokia. Anybody?

It's not instantaneously pushed. It will integrate with BIS as a normal IMAP account and follow the typical 15 minute polling cycle.

I was really hoping that the addition of IDLE support combined with IMAP would let the Blackberry receive my MobileMe email as immediate push like my Nokia does. Although, I must say that every 15 minutes for email should be just fine. I mean, if somebody needs me IMMEDIATELY they should call or text. Or IM. This won't deter me from getting a Bold the second they're available from AT&T of course. It's just that it would have been a spiffing feature to have.

I'm using an AT&T Blackberry 8820. I have not yet upgraded the OS to 4.5 just yet, but I will today. Right now, .Mac email is indeed instantly pushed to my Blackberry. When I delete it on my home computer it does not instantly delete from the Blackberry as it did on my Nokia E71. But delivery (the most important thing) is instant. I have no reason to think this will be any different on the Bold. Yay .Mac!!

Same thing for my GMail account. I set it up through AT&T just like my .Mac account, no separate GMail app or anything. Arrives instantly, deletions on my home computer do not go through to the Blackberry.

I can confirm. It is instant since the mobileme / bis upgrade. Very comforting!

It really is instant. All my other IMAP emails are fairly instant, too.

and it won't. It's not true IMAP. Changes made on the PC are not made on the BB. Only deletions on the BB are shown. Even if you read an e-mail, it won't show up as read on the PC either ... Weird right? hehe. Maybe they'll fix that. Because I certainly wouldn't mind having all my folders already on my cell phone hehe.

Have you looked in the MAC section?

For me, .mac is also pushing directly to my 8700g. I've gone through 9 (yes, not exaggerating) iPhone 3G's, and am happy to be back on the BB. I cannot wait for the Bold to be released on AT&T.
