As a total BB addict, I was so pleased to receive my new Bold yesterday, just to find out the trackball was defect

Upward movement was random or not working at all. Quite a disappointment for a brand new unit. Supposed to get a replacement tomorrow. Hope it will be ok ...

Sorry to hear about the OPs issue, that is a real downer for a new toy.

In my opinion the trackball from the bold isnt half as good as the 8800 or 8100. It feels like crap...and the sound is horrible. The 8800 feels and rolls much better.

I wonder how it compares to the 83xx Trackball? I always thought the 8800 Trackball was smoother than my 8310.

As far as I am aware the 88XX, 81XX and 83XX use the same trackball so there should not be any difference. Dont know about the Bold trackball.

Received my replacement Bold this morning. Trackball works perfect. My world is in order again.
Trackball is on par with my previous 8820, not worse, not better.

They all use the same trackball module.

The biggest difference is that in the Bold, there's a retainer clip inside the case.

So if you have any spare trackballs - or want to order some from Horizon Wireless just in case - you won't have to mark which is for which.

I am hoping the Bold solves my issues with the 8300 where the ring holding in the trackball easily gets damaged and loses the tiny plastic clips that hold it in place. Right now my trackball is being held in with tape awaiting my purchase of a Bold.

is it hard to remove the trackball , on my curve i jsut poped it out and i sued clear celophane paper that was red transparent and placed a tiny piece over the led then my trackball was red. wonderin how easy to do that with this one ?
