Default Bold - saving e-mail attachments e.g. word doc

Hi, I am enjoying playing with my shiny new Bold.... however, two things seem to be eluding me!

1. I cant seem to work out how to save a word doc that has been sent to me as an e-mail attachment onto my device. I can do this easily with some file formats e.g. .jpg but not with a .doc. My understanding was that this was possible on the Bold hence the inclusion of docs to go on there. If anyone can assist me with this i would be very appreciative

2. I dont have Blackberry Maps on my device and am sure that Orange UK is the culprit for this! Does anyone know if a hack has been found to rectify this yet?

Welcome to the BBForums.

1. Do you have DocumentToGo loaded on your Bold? You should, it should have come loaded on the device. If you don't see the icon for that or WordToGo, look at Options > Advanced > Applications and see if it is listed there.

2. Get Blackberry Maps and Google Maps working on Beta OS 4.5

Hi, Yes, the application is on there and I can open a document direct from the e-mail but there is no save option anywhere? I cant seem to save it either from the e-mail or from when i have opened it..... (I have upgraded the docstogo to premier for more functionality).

Highlight or hover over the filename at the bottom of the email.

Press Menu. You should have choices to Open Attachment or to Download Attachment. Do you?

Do you have a Media Card?

No, neither of those options are available. The only option relating to the attachment is to open it.

I am able, using word2go, to create a new word document and save that to either my device memory or my media card. I am just unable to save or edit docs sent to me.

Think I may have found the reason..... think its my BES that doesnt support native attachments. Will apply a service pack and report back.....

Please do let us know... with the advent of the Bold reaching user hands (jealous here) people like you will be helping the knowledge base on this forum (although, your issue does appear to be BES-related.

I can Open Attachment or Download Attachment. However once you download attachment, the menu option disappears and you can only Open Attachment. It must remember that you downloaded it.

I'm on BIS - can't comment on BES.

I have applied the latest service pack to my BES and the options to download and save attachment are now there
