I do not want to mislead anyone so I decided to retest the 134. After reading on other sites it seems to be normal that in certain areas 3G could step down to EDGE and even GSM back up to 3G. If it locks then it is a problem.

I tested it again and everything seems fine. In certain basement area it will drop to edge and back up to 3G.

I've found a fix for this - this will defo apply to all Bold users on Orange UK however it might work for any other networks...

(Note: this only applys if you have lost email reconciliation and no longer get audible email alerts)

1) Go to Setup (Folder with Green Cog in it)
2) Go to E-mail Settings
3) When you get to the relevant browser page, go down to Service Books and select it
4) Go down to Send Service Books and select it

Since i've down this, i've fixed the only fault i've came across when i updated the device software...

I upgraded my Bold with OS 4.6.0.134 two days ago. Find it much stable than the preloaded Rogers one.

I mean memory leaks have gone for me since I upgraded.

Even 134 is old news inside RIM. They have already gone through 143, 147 and are now on 151. Lol.

This is true but hopefully we can get 147 soon since that is what AT&T are testing now.

I have noticed that several of you have OS: 4.6.0.134 but the newest OS that is listed is at the top which is 4.6.0.126 with a platform: 4.0.0.135 which is what mine device is reporting. Am I confused about what I am looking at or are some of you posting the platform in the OS field?

It's the version that ppl show in their profile and talk about. V.126 is the latest officially released while V.134 is the latest leaked beta OS.

Cool This sucks! - 09-10-2008, 07:07 PM

Well, I tried using this on a really unstable "Beta" Bold. It's now bricked!

Any one here who can shed light on this?

The last thing that happened was after hitting "Next" to complete the update in Desktop Manager, the error message "A Fatal Error Has Occured" appears.

The device now faithfully sits at the "507" error message. Thanks in advance for your help guys!

Early beta bolds could not be updated by anyone other than maybe RIM without being bricked. Its a nice looking paperweight though.

Default Since upgrade no more sounds? - 09-11-2008, 03:26 AM

Guy's,

Updated an Orange UK device to 134. Now I have all the sample songs, ring tones, notify sounds listed but none of them play and songs report a size of 0 bytes?

How can I get all the sounds back as I'm only left with one, and even if I scroll through the sounds it only plays the one same sound as a preview?

Please help.

Also where can I get the original Orange firmware as I fear I may have to downgrade back and retry thre upgrade.

Thanks.
